Purpose

CJAM offers programs to educate the community regarding constructive, restorative approaches to conflict resolution. Conflict resolution education and training is important at all levels in the community, ranging from school programs to neighborhood associations. Conflict resolution training develops individual and organizational capacity to manage conflict.

CJAM education and training programs include workshops open to the public, ones offered “in-house” for organizations and businesses tailored to specific needs, and in-service training for CJAM volunteer mediators.

In-house workshops

CJAM in-house offerings range from short talks (usually offered at no charge) to intensive workshops lasting several hours or days. We have sometimes provided a series of events for an organization, giving participants the opportunity to use their acquired knowledge and skills in their work between workshops. While the range of programs we can offer in-house is suggested by the descriptions of our public offerings, above, we design in-house programs to meet the particular needs of the organization based on preliminary discussion and exploration with the client. If CJAM does not have the resources to meet the particular organization’s needs, we can make referrals to other resources.

Workshop fees

While workshop fees vary with the expenses of mounting the particular program, CJAM fees, for both public and in-house workshops, are substantially less than those for equivalent programs offered by commercial providers and professional organizations. Discounts are available to CJAM volunteers, contributors, and corporate sponsors. Scholarships are available in instances of financial need.
